I'm not a poet;I couldn't be if I tried.
I just fill pages when I feel empty,
pouring my soul into fragile vessels
of paper and ink
hoping that some tired soul
(not much unlike myself)
might wipe off the film 
of scratched letters,
broken words,
and weak structures,
to glance at the rusted emotions underneath.

I'm not a poet,
just another angsty teenager
with a pen and an idea
and a world that looks more like a warzone
from behind rose-coloured hipster glasses.
Originality waning
and sentences far from pretty,
I quietly transplant from my mind
another set of scribbled verses
onto borrowed notebook paper
to free my jumbled thoughts
and cure inherent boredom.

I'm not a poet,
but, hey, a girl can try.
